Item Item Yoga Sudha(S Vyasa, 2015-12-03) Nagendra, H. R.In modern times, management of noncommunicable diseases has become an enormous challenge to the medical fraternity worldwide. It is increasingly being recognized that non-communicable diseases are multifactorial problems and therefore the solutions to these have to be multi-faceted. Evidence based approach is of utmost importance to provide the best possible care for the patients. Equally important is to develop cost-effective treatments.Item Item Yoga Sudha(S Vyasa, 2015-08-03) Nagendra, H. R.Thanks to the tremendous support of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the whole world became ‘Yoga mayam Jagat’ and Rajpath became Yoga Path on 21st June. National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has prepared the curriculum to introduce Yoga education for teachers from preprimary to Med. Even NCERT has introduced Yoga for students and is made compulsory for students from 6th to 12th standard. The standard Yoga Teachers competency model has been developed by AYUSH Ministry and Quality Council of India (QCI), on success full completion of the exam based on the competency model evolved one can become a Yoga teacher. For all these rapid developments, especially with Yoga, we thank the Prime Minster for his support. After, we being entrusted with the responsibility of Chairman of the Technical Expert Committees S-VYASA has come to the forefront. Now it’s our greatest responsibility to take all these yoga related activities in the right direction and to the forefront to attain success, as done during International Day of Yoga (IDY) by creating two world records, and this could be attributed to the co-operations of all Yoga masters in our country. We are proud to place on record their vital contributions for the success and seek their continued co-operation, in all our future endeavors.Item Item Yoga Sudha(S Vyasa, 2015-11-03) Nagendra, H. Normally, in any modern medicine conferences there is one subject – Diabetes / cardiology / Hypertension / Psychiatry /Oncology. Never together to create a holistic outlook and integration. The modern medical practice has become so specialised that the holistic view is totally lost. But most pharmaceutical interventions are done to tackle only one organ. So this conference of specialists from all four different areas of common ailments is the first of its kind. The scenario is not much different even in AYUSH. This conference intends in bringing Specialist / Researchers from all these fields for integration.Item Yoga Sudha(S Vyasa, 2015-09-03) Nagendra, H. R.After the Internatonal Day of Yoga (IDY), the Stop Diabetic Movement (SDM) for Madhumeha Mukta Bharat (MMB) camps got spread far and wide into most parts of the country with nearly 56,000 participants in around 1600 camps. We still need to collect the data from the camps held in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, etc. The biggest challenge now is to motivate these persons to continue the practice, till we collect the data after 3, 6 and 12 months. Fortunately, the camp organisers are in continuous touch with them and the latest reports are very encouraging as the DM patients are continuing the practices regularly as there is drastic reduction of FBS, etc. which they monitor themselves. The silver line is that there has been no single case reporting negative effects of the practices. Apart from these camps, nearly 100 of our MSc distance education students have systematically collected large number pre-post data, which are being analysed and presented as Dissertations by the students. The next batch of students will collect 3 months follow up data, on the same lines it is planned to collect follow up data for 6 and 12 months all over the country.Item Yoga Sudha(S Vyasa, 2015-10-03) Nagendra, H. R.It was fascinating to see the tremendous response from all quarters about Yoga in general and IDY in particular during our tour to USA. The Global Dharma Foundation in Edison attracted top thinkers such as Rajiv Malhotra to elaborate on all dimensions of Dharma, enshrined in our Sanatana Dharma which was an eye opener to most delegates. Yoga as a correlation to Dharma was presented by me with the suggestion, that the tremendous boost given to Yoga, by our PM through IDY should be used to spread the essentials of Dharma. As an action plan to train teachers of yoga in its holistic way, in most of the universities and temples has been worked out.
