Abstract
BACKGROUND
Various forms of yoga like Kripalu yoga, meditation and Relaxation Breathing
Technique (RBT) have been found to be very effective in reducing and treating Music
Performance Anxiety (MPA) in adolescent and professional musicians..
AIM
The present study is aimed at assessing the efficacy of Cyclic Meditation (CM) in
reducing MPA in rock musicians.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A sample size was sixty (n=60) subject which are rock musicians which had 10 days
training of CM are included in the study. Both variables of State-Trait anxiety and
Music Performance Anxiety was assesses twice i.e., before and after the intervention of
CM.
RESULT
There is no significant result in KMPAI and STAI variable; however there is a trend of
getting significant result in KMPAI in experimental group on the basis of reduction in
KMPAI mean value in post data.
CONCLUSION
This is a unique effort to measure the performance anxiety in rock musicians adding to
yoga intervention; however the result was not significant because of so many factors
such as, short duration of intervention and small sample size. Keeping this view in mind,
we can explore further research in the same area by taking care of all the above
mentioned dimensions.
