Relationship between interoceptive awareness, metacognitive awareness, paranormal belief, and superstitious belief among emerging adults
    (SVYASA, 2020) Rooba G.; Rajesh S. K.; Judu Ilavarasu
BACKGROUND Interoceptive awareness is the conscious perception of the internal sensation of the body. It is known to be one of the factors that can help in emotion regulation, expressivity, and so many other elements. METHODS AND MATERIALS The Sample size of 400 students of age group between (18-25) has been collected. They were given a questionnaire composed of 5 questionnaires namely MAIA (Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness), MALQ (Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire), RPBS (Revised Paranormal Belief Scale), ISS (Indian Superstition Scale). RESULT There was a mild correlation between Interoceptive Awareness and Metacognitive Awareness, Interoceptive Awareness and Paranormal Belief, Interoceptive Awareness, and Superstitious Belief. CONCLUSION The present study indicates a significant correlation between all the variables with MAIA and significant correlations between all the variables and its subdomains. KEYWORD Interoceptive Awareness, Metacognitive Awareness, Paranormal Belief, Superstitious Belief

The relationship between interocptive awareness, expressivity, humility, open mindedness and depression among emerging adults
(SVYASA, 2020) Riyana Sreedharan; Rajesh S. K.; Judu Ilavarasu
BACKGROUND Interoceptive awareness is the conscious perception of the internal sensations of the body. It is known to be one of the factors that can help in emotion regulation, expressivity, and so many other elements. METHODS AND MATERIALS 402 students of age group (18-25) were chosen. They were given a questionnaire composed of 5 questionnaires namely Multidimensional assessment of interoceptive awareness (MAIA), Actively open-minded scale (AOMTS), Berkeley Expressivity Questionnaire (BEQ), Patient health questionnaire (PHQ), Comprehensive intellectual humility scale (CIHS). They were made to answer these questionnaires and their responses were collected. RESULT There is a mild correlation between MAIA and expressivity. The rest of them doesn’t show any correlation between MAIA. CONCLUSION The present study indicates no significant correlation between any of the variables with MAIA except the mild correlation between expressivity and MAIA and the significant correlations between the subdomains of MAIA itself. KEYWORDS Interoceptive awareness, Expressivity, Humility, Open-mindedness

Relationship between interoceptive awareness, smartphone addiction, self regulation and depression among emerging adults
(SVYASA, 2020) Sabastian Baabu; Rajesh S. K.; Judu Ilavarasu
BACKGROUND Interoceptive awareness is the awareness of inner body sensations, involving the sensory process of receiving, accessing and appraising internal bodily signals. Smartphone addiction can be psychological or behavioral dependence on cell phones, closely related to other forms of digital media overuse such as social media addiction or gaming addiction. It is said that over use of these technologies can lead to physical and psychological problems like anxiety, depression and other physical problems. METHODS AND MATERIALS 328 individuals in the age group 18-25 from 4 different institutions participated in the study. They were asked to fill a questionnaire that included Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness (MAIA), Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS), Self Regulation Inventory (SRI) and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Data was tabulated and further analyzed using the software JASP 0.10.2.0. RESULT After analysis, we found that Pearson’s r value for; MAIA and SAS was -0.0007, MAIA and SRI was 0.258 and MAIA and PHQ-9 was 0.064. This means there was a weak positive correlation between MAIA and SRI. There was weak negative correlation between MAIA and SAS, MAIA and PHQ-9. CONCLUSION The present study indicates that as interoceptive awareness increases self regulation also increases. Also, as interoceptive awareness decreases depression and smartphone addiction also decreases. But the relations were found to be weak.
